St. Gabriel's Secondary School
"Servant Leader; Lifelong Learner; Gracious Citizen"
St. Gabriel’s Secondary School is an all-boys school and is one of the seven institutions of the Montfort Brothers of St. Gabriel. Our mission is to shape the lives of Gabrielites who will serve the community as Servant Leaders, and who are themselves, Lifelong Learners and Gracious Citizens. Our philosophy of education is guided by the Montfortian Education Charter, formed by an understanding and study of the life and works of St. Louis Marie de Montfort.
St. Gabriel’s School began on 3 June 1953 as a primary school with 212 students under our first principal, Reverend Brother Louis Gonzaga. He died in 1716, leaving behind a legacy of serving the poor and “those whom the world rejects”. In 1969, the Primary School moved to its new premises in Highland Road. The Secondary School became single-session and was reorganized to cater for technical education, before moving to its present location at Serangoon Avenue 1 In May 1992. The religious brothers led the school for 30 years till 1983 before the leadership was passed on to lay Principals.
Shaping Lives for Service to God and Nation
Labor Omnia Vincit
which means “Labour conquers all things” in Latin
We develop Gabrielites grounded in values of Respect, Resilience, Responsibility and Care, and emphasizing and respecting the need for personal spiritual growth by sustaining it through daily reflections and actions. Our motto, Labor Omnia Vincit, rallies Gabrielites to persevere in all endeavours with tenacity and determination. Our culture of care, amongst staff and students, is extended to our larger community through our values in action through service. Our high levels of achievement in academia, sports, aesthetics and uniformed groups, coupled with our character and leadership programme, grow and nurture our students to be Servant Leaders, Lifelong Learners and Gracious Citizens.
